Scottish C2C Route

After much deliberation as to which route to take on this trip, I decided, after not finding an existing crossing that was long and interesting enough, to make up my own.

So the longitudinal extremities of the mainland seemed a good place to start, taking in its highest mountains and wilder regions completes the plan.

Starting from Peterhead, a disused railway track runs down close to Aberdeen and shortly connects to the Deeside way which leads into the Cairngorm National Park. From there heading West towards Knoydart before ending at  Ardnamurchan Point on the Ardnamurchan peninsula.

* Amendment as of 16th MAY 2013*

As the pre-existing route incorporates nine out of the ten highest mountains in Scotland, I feel to add the tenth mountain - Ben Lawyers, will make it complete.

Although this means a large detour south, I believe it will be good addition and one which will make the route a worthwhile challenge.

The blue route  in the picture is the intended diversion to the original route.

Other diversions to those planned may occur however  I will try to give notice of these as they happen.
